40th Anniversary Celebration

Java Code Camp
We are excited to host the Pitt Java Users Group Code Camp on October 14th. This free, day-long event is designed as a series of intensive code related demos and technical sessions to guide the developer to the next skill level. Pitt Awarded $2.4 Million by U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security to Develop Computing Technology

Technology Leadership Institute

The Dept's program for fostering computing interest in underreprented and disadvantaged high school students has received some media attention, including a story from the Associated Press (second story down). (July 25, 2006)

Spotlight: Center for Modeling Pulmonary Immunity (01/06/06)

Dr. Chrysanthis and Dr. Labrinidis will lead the bioinformatics effort in the recently established Center for Modeling Pulmonary Immunity. The center was established in September 2005, from a $9 million contract from NIH. More

Five graduate students selected to participate in Google Workshop (12/21/05)

Subrata Acharya, Nevine Abou Ghazaleh, Huiming Qu, Jie Xu, and Min Zhao got invited to participate in the 1st Google Workshop for Women Engineers in Mountain View, California on January 21/22, 2006.

Cosmin Rusu wins first prize at RTSS'05 (12/05/05)

Cosmin Rusu, a PhD student in the Department, has won the first prize in the simulated robot competition at the 26th IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium.
