CS 0131: Software for Personal Computing

Description
This course provides an introduction to computer applications for students majoring in areas other than computer science. Objectives of this course include : (a) A non-technical study of the Windows NT operating systems. (b) Development of applications using software selected from the principal areas of applications for personal computing. These include word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), and relational databases( Microsoft Access).
Prerequisites
None.
CS Major Credit
Students majoring in Computer Science are permitted to take this course as an elective, but it does not count as a required CS course.
Requirements and Grading
Between 4 and 7 projects, 2 or 3 exams and homework. Although this course is mainly for non-majors, students majoring in computer science may take this course as an elective.
Recitation: None.
Expected class size: 40 students.
Frequency: This course is offered every term.
